The Hormonal Cancer Foundation
The Hormonal Cancer Foundation was formed in 2010. HCF is a tax-exempt non-for-profit with 501c3 status. Your donation is tax-deductible. Our mission is to disseminate information to the general public and the medical community about the link between estrogen metabolism and breast cancer. Our goal is to encourage women to test their estrogen metabolism function prior to making fertility management decisions. For those women who already have breast cancer, information about estrogen metabolism function may reduce recurrence.
Multiple studies have shown that women with impaired estrogen metabolism function may not be able to safely tolerate external estrogens such as fertility medications or hormone replacement therapies. Women with an impaired estrogen metabolism who take estrogenic medication greatly increase their risk for breast cancer compared to the general population.
I am not a nurse, a doctor or a medical researcher. I am a patient advocate with no affliations to any individual or institution mentioned in this site. I have chosen to share information regarding my own genetic makeup, fertility treatments and breast cancer experience in the hopes that it may help others lives, lower recurrance risk or best of all, not wind up with cancer at all. I encourage you to seek information on testing and treatment from medical professionals.
If your current physician is unfamiliar with these tests and they will probably will not be familiar as this is all cutting edge medicine, please see RESOURCES page. I urge you to share this website with your physicians and everyone else you know. Help us spread this information.
If you would like to share your thoughts, your breast cancer story, papers, attachements, video and etc on estrogen metabolism & breast cancer please contact me at babs@ivfbreastcancer.com
